چکیده

This paper addresses the problem of multicast (i.e., mul-tipoint) routing in computer networks carrying a mix of uni-cast and multicast traac. In particular, we derive a closed form mathematical expression to predict the average link usage for multicast calls in a two-dimensional rectangular mesh network. The analytical expression is used to evaluate the relative performance of three simple multicast routing techniques: M-Unicast, Conference Call, and Core-Based Trees. Simulation experiments are then used to assess the accuracy of the analytical model. The results show that, among the three routing models considered, the Core-Based Trees model has the lowest average links required per multicast recipient. Simulation results show that the analytic model is highly accurate: always within 10%, and often within 5% of the results obtained by simulation. The accuracy of the analytical model degrades only slightly as the network load increases.

Row/Column-First: A Path-based Multicast Algorithm for 2D Mesh-based Network on Chips

In this paper, we propose a new path-based multicast algorithm that is called Row/Column-First algorithm. The proposed algorithm constructs a set of multicast paths to deliver a multicast message to all multicast destination nodes. The set of multicast paths are all of row-first or column-first subcategories to maximize the multicast performance. The selection of row-first or column-first appro...

Performance under a Failure of Wide-area Datagram Networks with Unicast and Multicast Traffic Routing

A major link or node failure in a network can severely affect services offered by the network. In this paper, we address network performance, especially, in the event of a link failure in the presence of both unicast and multicast routing in wide-area datagram networks, such as the Internet. Since various services can exert different workloads (per connection/session), we have developed workloa...

Interference-Aware and Cluster Based Multicast Routing in Multi-Radio Multi-Channel Wireless Mesh Networks

Multicast routing is one of the most important services in Multi Radio Multi Channel (MRMC) Wireless Mesh Networks (WMN). Multicast routing performance in WMNs could be improved by choosing the best routes and the routes that have minimum interference to reach multicast receivers. In this paper we want to address the multicast routing problem for a given channel assignment in WMNs. The channels...

An Overview of Group Key Management Issues in IEEE 802.16e Networks

The computer industry has defined the IEEE 802.16 family of standards that will enable mobile devices to access a broadband network as an alternative to digital subscriber line technology. As the mobile devices join and leave a network, security measures must be taken to ensure the safety of the network against unauthorized usage by encryption and group key management. IEEE 802.16e uses Multica...

A Novel Multicast Tree Construction Algorithm for Multi-Radio Multi-Channel Wireless Mesh Networks

Many appealing multicast services such as on-demand TV, teleconference, online games and etc. can benefit from high available bandwidth in multi-radio multi-channel wireless mesh networks. When multiple simultaneous transmissions use a similar channel to transmit data packets, network performance degrades to a large extant. Designing a good multicast tree to route data packets could enhance the...
